An American Wake is an artist’s book that parallels 150 years of family history with observations from a trip to Ireland. Anecedotal stories from family history are positioned with stereotypes, social commentary, and events in Irish-American history. The text is written entirely in the third person pronoun “he,” to blur the generations of males in the geneology.
