A text-intensive journal, Minnesota Creates: Fashion for a Century posed some interesting challenges. Because the images supplied were done so by the article authors, the picture quality varied from acceptable to lousy (with no budget for Photoshop retouching). Using them small helped to minimize this “snapshot” look.

Although there was budget for a 4 color cover, the chosen cover image didn’t have much color in it, so a decision was made to forego 4 color and use two colors with a better grade of paper, giving the publication a greater tactile quality.
